We aren’t trapped in the matrix, we are the matrix— and it’s glitching
A manual for withdrawing your consent from the simulation: how to stop being a battery for an extractive machine and start prioritizing physical reality again.
We often experience life as a series of rooms we are waiting to leave. We sit in the friction of uninspiring jobs, the quiet static of fading relationships, and the persistent hum of “not quite enough,” convinced that we are simply victims of a long-running bureaucratic error. It feels as though the universe has placed us on an indefinite hold, and we are just pacing the floor until the doors finally click open.
This sense of being stalled isn’t just a mood anymore; it’s become a form of our modern identity.
We’ve become professional observers of our own stagnation, looking at the bars of our lives and wondering who welded them shut. We blame the economy, the algorithm, or a vague sense of cosmic bad luck, all while clinging to a specific, comforting myth to explain why we can’t seem to move.
THE ARCHITECTURE OF ILLUSION: PART 1
To understand this stagnation, we have to look at the primary metaphor of our age: The Matrix.
In popular culture, “The Matrix” refers to a digital simulation—a sophisticated, computer-generated dream world pulled over our eyes to blind us from the truth. In this story, humans are unaware that their physical bodies are actually being used as a power source by a cold, mechanical system, while their minds are kept busy in a fake reality that looks just like normal life.
This story has become the shorthand for our modern soul-sickness. Even if you’ve never seen the films, you likely feel the resonance of the idea: the suspicion that the “real world” is somewhere else, and that we are currently trapped in a simulation we didn’t build, controlled by forces we can’t see, disconnected from a “real world” that exists somewhere outside this cage.
We find a strange comfort in this role of the “rebel prisoner.” If the system is an external monolith—a digital fortress designed by an architect or an oppressive algorithm—then our inaction isn’t our fault; it’s just the nature of the confinement. We spend our energy scanning the horizon for glitches, waiting for a red or blue pill to be handed to us, convinced that the “real” version of ourselves is waiting just beyond the firewall.
But this obsession with the external cage is actually the ultimate distraction. It allows us to ignore the terrifying possibility that the walls aren’t made of code or steel, but of our own habits, justifications, and fears. We aren’t being held captive by a master program; we are the ones tirelessly writing the script of our own limitations every single morning.
The matrix narrative has colonized our collective imagination so thoroughly that when people wake up to the dysfunction of modern life, they describe it as escaping, breaking free, unplugging from something external.
But here’s what that framing gets catastrophically wrong: You are not trapped in the matrix. You ARE the matrix.
THE COSMIC CODE AND THE ART OF BEING: PART 2
The universe didn’t build a prison and throw you inside it; it built itself out of you.
This is where the ancient philosophy of Samkhya and the Hermetic law of As Above, So Below merge into a single, unbreakable truth—a blueprint of how consciousness precipitates into matter.
The Samkhya philosophers realized that the universe is a dialogue between two eternal principles: Purusha (Pure Consciousness) and Prakriti (Primordial Nature).
Purusha is the silent Witness. It is the unchanging awareness, the “Above.”
Prakriti is the “Matrix” in its original sense—the womb. It is creative power, energy, and relentless movement. It is the “Below.”
These are not two separate things; they are a merge. Purusha without Prakriti is an eye with nothing to see; Prakriti without Purusha is a blind machine spinning in the dark. Without the witness, the dance doesn’t exist.
This is the Observer Effect of modern physics: the “wave of potential” (Prakriti) only collapses into a “particle” (Reality) when it is met by the Witness (Purusha).
The axiom “As Above, So Below” is the literal description of this merge. The pattern of the cosmos is encoded in the pattern of your body because they are made of the exact same five elemental “states.”
From the union of Prakriti and Purusha, the entire universe is birthed into existence. This is the point where alchemy and the atom become the same thing:
Ether/Space: This is the field of all possibility. In an atom, this is the 99.9% “empty” space between the nucleus and the electrons. In your body, it is the container that allows all other elements to exist. It is the primordial silence.
Air: This is the principle of motion. In the atom, it is the electron’s spin. In your body, it is the nervous system and the breath. It is the movement of information across the field.
Fire: This is the principle of transformation. In the atom, it is the radiant energy and light. In your body, it is metabolism and the “fire” of the intellect that digests reality into wisdom.
Water: This is the principle of cohesion. In the atom, it is the force that binds particles together. In your body, it is the blood, the lymph, and the liquid intelligence that allows for connectivity.
Earth: This is the principle of structure. In the atom, it is the density of the nucleus. In your body, it is the bone, the muscle, and the physical container.
Your body is a microcosm of the macrocosm.
The same forces that govern the movements of planets govern the movements of your muscles in your body, your thoughts in your mind, the breeze in the trees, the Prana (energy) through your Nadis (the 72,000 electromagnetic pathways in your body), the flowing of water down streams, of tears leaving eyes, of blood pooling up…. Literally EVERYTHING.
When you are in alignment with your unique composition of the five elements, you are a perfectly tuned antenna designed to resonate with the frequency of the Earth.
And this is what this entire article is going to be trying to break through to you: The matrix is not something you are in, it is something you are doing. You are the consciousness that provides the light, AND you are the matter that provides the form.
THE 10,000-YEAR GLITCH: PART 3
Even the most perfect pattern can be distorted if the weaver begins to fear the web.
For approximately 95% of human existence—spanning nearly 300,000 years—humans lived in a state of “original factory settings” This wasn’t a primitive struggle like our current overlords want to have us thinking; it was a sophisticated, high-resonance relationship with the cosmic Matrix.
We lived in circles. We understood that to take from the river without offering back was a mathematical error that would eventually break the flow. We lived as part of the field, not masters over it.
Then, roughly 10,000 years ago, a fracture appeared in the collective consciousness. This is what the ancient texts call the transition into the Kali Yuga, or the rise of the fourth world, or as I like to call it— the birth of the Patriarchal Glitch.
Patriarchy is not “men,” it’s a virus, a parasite, a moral aberration. It is a corruption of the code that moved us from a world of belonging to a world of owning. And it re-coded our reality through four foundational lies that now dictate how you eat, how you work, how you love, and how you die:
LIE 01– HUMANS ARE SEPARATE FROM EARTH
The actual cosmic pattern is fundamentally relational. Consciousness and matter exist in an eternal, unbreakable merge. But the glitch installed the belief that the “Self” stops at the skin. It told us that the mind is a ghost in a machine, separate from the body. It told us that nature is a place you visit on the weekend, rather than the very breath in your lungs. It told us that we are separate from the cosmos, from the soil, and from the sea
This lie is the original malware for all modern violence.
Once you believe you are separate from the Earth, you can justify strip-mining it. Once you believe you are separate from your neighbor, you can justify their poverty. It creates a state of permanent that soul-sickness was I described earlier—the haunting feeling of being a lonely observer in a cold, mechanical universe, failing to realize you are the universe.
We have become like a hand that has forgotten it is attached to the arm, wondering why it feels so alone.
LIE 02— HEIRARCHY AND DOMINATION AS HUMAN BIOLOGY
The original code is non-hierarchical. In the human body, the heart is not “better” than the lungs; they simply have different frequencies. But the glitch alap installed the ladder/pyramid. It told us that spirit is superior to matter, that reason is superior to intuition, and that the masculine is superior to the feminine.
This lie turned the dance of creation into a war for position.
It forces us to spend our entire lives trying to “get ahead,” oblivious to the fact that the ladder is leaning against a wall that is currently crumbling. It creates a culture of domination where safety is only found through being at the top, ensuring that everyone is perpetually afraid of being at the bottom.
This is the root of our exhaustion—we are using our life force to maintain a rank in a system that doesn’t actually exist.
LIE 03– LINEARITY AS STANDARD INFRASTRUCTURE
The cosmic code is cyclical. Everything expands and contracts; everything is born, peaks, decays, and is reborn. But the glitch installed linear time and gave us the production line. It demands endless growth on a finite planet—a biological impossibility that we would otherwise refer to as a cancer in any other context.
This lie makes us fear aging, fear rest, and fear the quieter, softer, or more withdrawn phases of our lives. It forces us to try and live in a state of permanent hustle, leading to the total burnout of the human nervous system. It teaches us that if we are not following the steps from A-Z laid out from another person that we are wasting our time. That we must somehow “level-up” to be deserving of our existence on earth.
We are running a marathon toward a finish line that doesn’t exist, ignoring the scenery we were meant to inhabit…. And we think we’re failing at it too.
LIE 04– EXTRACTION AND EXPLOITATION ARE REQUIRED FOR SURVIVAL
In the original pattern, energy moves in reciprocity. You breathe in what the trees breathe out. It is a closed-loop system of mutual nourishment. But the glitch is built on extraction and exploitation— It views the world as resource to privatize and control rather than relative to love and protect. It teaches us to take without returning, to consume without replenishing, and to value profit (stagnant energy) over flow (living energy).
This is why our modern world feels so hollow. We have forgotten how to die, and have therefore, forgotten how to truly live. We have willingly and progressively traded the resonance of the living matrix for the hollow clatter of the machine.
And now, we are currently witnessing the total collapse of this lie around the globe—the system is reaching the end of its ability to steal from the future to pay for the present.
THE RABID ANIMAL IS CORNERED: PART 4
Right now, we are witnessing an extinction burst. In behavioral science, this is the predictable, frantic spike in a behavior just before it stops for good.
When a long-reinforced behavior—like the ability of the glitch to extract power, labor, and obedience—is suddenly cut off from its reward, the system doesn’t just quietly fade away. It doesn’t go gentle into that good night. Instead, it intensifies. It becomes loud, erratic, and increasingly violent.
When we look at the current state of the world from this lens, we see the coordinated global backlash against bodily autonomy, desperate returns to overt authoritarianism, hyper-surveillance of our digital lives, and the violent reassertion of hierarchies are not signs of malware taking over, they are signs of it failing.
Like a rabid animal cornered in a dark alley, the empire is at its most dangerous precisely because it is losing its grip on our programming.
It can feel the collective field reasserting itself and it can see that we are beginning to remember that we are the ones who provide the power for the prison.
Why do you think they desperately want to lower the population? It’s not because we “don’t have enough,” it’s because they want it all… and they want us in a small enough population to keep us under control. Their projections of the ideal population are nothing but admission of the max capacity of their control.
And we should call it what it is: the biological reflex of a failing parasite lashing out because it can no longer find a host that believes in its lies.
We are waking up, and as we walk away, we take the power of the empire with us. Your job in all of this is NOT to fight the feral creature on its own terms—which would only feed its frenzy—but to step out of its reach, stabilize your own field, wait for the fever to break, and most importantly, to prepare for the violently deadly tactics it throws at us as it takes it final shallow breaths.
RETURNING TO FACTORY SETTINGS: PART 5
The empire is a ghost— a set of corrupted programs that only continue to run because we provide the power. But a ghost cannot feed you, and it cannot hold you when you grieve.
As the glitch intensifies in its extinction burst, the friction between the mechanical world and the living field becomes unbearable. We feel this friction as burnout, anxiety, rage, despair, nausea, fear, and a chronic sense of homelessness even when we are sitting in our own living rooms.
This is the physiological toll of trying to force a living, breathing microcosm into an extractive macrocosm that has forgotten the language of life.
To stop the friction, we must stop trying to fit into the cage and start remembering the field. And this may be the entire point of my article now finally— we do not unplug from the matrix, we repair our relationship to it by clearing the malware of that patriarchy installed into our collective psyche.
This is extends far beyond a mere psychological shift or a lifestyle choice… and it’s definitely not a spiritual bypassing type of scenario either.
Reprogramming yourself to your original elemental settings is entirely possible— it seems hard, and scary, and lonely, and a lot of times it is… at first. I know because I’ve been there, over and over again as various stages of my life stripped me bare again. And I know it because I also have almost 2 decades of clinical practice working with people all across the globe in doing just this.
Returning to balance is an unlearning process, not a learning process. It is a systematic, communal re-coding of how we occupy space on this Earth; and that is what makes it so fucking difficult to pus yourself through as an adult, and it’s also precisely the entire reason of why you should do it.
The following protocols are just some of the ways you can start to rediscover your “factory settings,” reattune yourself to the matrix, and achieve critical coherence— the state of being where your personal field becomes so stable and aligned with the original code that the glitch can no longer find a place to land.
RESET 01– RECLAIM THE BODY AS THE PRIMARY SITE OF KNOWLEDGE
The glitch taught you to distrust your own flesh, to treat it as a machine to be optimized or a slave to be driven. It installed a hierarchy where the “expert” or the “algorithm” knows more about your health than your own cells do.
But your body is Prakriti in constant dialogue with Purusha. Reclaiming it means learning to trust your gut, your tremors, and your fatigue more than the logic of the production line.
When you are in a meeting and your stomach knots up, the glitch tells you it is just nerves to be ignored, but the reset tells you that your enteric nervous system has detected a breach of integrity. When you stop overriding these signals and start honoring the body’s “no,” you begin to reclaim the hardware of the universe from the virus.
Here are some ideas
Practice body scanning several times a day to identify where the glitch’s tension is stored
Implement a “radical no” for 24 hours—refuse any request that causes a physical contraction in your solar plexus.
Use somatic shaking (literally shaking your limbs for 2 minutes) after any interaction with extractive systems to discharge the static.
Refuse to justify your physical boundaries or “needs” (rest, food, space) to any institutional authority.
Boycott the“optimization complex— stop tracking your biometrics on apps that sell your data to insurance or data-mining firms.
Decouple your self-worth from your output: intentionally spend a “zero productivity” day once a week to break the glitch’s hold on your value.
RESET 02– LEARN YOUR UNIQUE ELEMENTAL BLUEPRINT AND LIVE ACCORDINGLY
The glitch wants you to be a generic, predictable consumer, following the same bio-hacks and wellness trends as everyone else. But you are a specific combination of Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth—this is your Prakriti, your original blueprint.
For example, if you are air-dominant, you do not need a cold smoothie and a high-intensity workout; you need the warmth of root vegetables and the weight of heavy blankets to stop your energy from fragmenting into anxiety. If you are fire-dominant, you must stop competing in every arena of your life and spend time near the cooling intelligence of water.
When you live by your elemental design, you stop being a project to be fixed and start being a node of coherence that functions exactly as it was designed. Here’s how to get started:
Identify your dominant element or dosha and adjust your morning routine to balance it.
Audit your diet for “elemental integrity”—choose foods that ground you if you are flighty, or warm you if you are stagnant.
Dress in colors and fabrics that regulate your specific elemental frequency.
Refuse standardized medical approaches that ignore your constitutional uniqueness; demand and seek out practitioners who honor the five-element blueprint.
Opt-out of the aesthetic bandwagon— stop altering your elemental appearance to fit in the beige, high-def, plasticized glitch box.
Intentionally consume media and art that balances your specific elemental lack (ex: if you are too Fire-dominant, stop watching high-adrenaline, aggressive media).
RESET 03– REPAIR CYCLES AND WITNESS THE DEATH OF THE LINE
The glitch installed linear time to keep you in a state of permanent doing and constant productivity, convincing you that if you aren’t growing, you are failing. This reset is the restoration of the cycle.
It means aligning your life with the natural inhale and exhale of the universe—tracking the moon, noticing the shifts in your own energy across the seasons, and honoring the winter phases of grief or post-project exhaustion as being just as sacred as the harvest. It means switching your diet and lifestyle with the seasons instead of relying on mass-produced items out of season. When you reject the production line, you stop racing toward a finish line that doesn’t exist and start inhabiting the immortality of the present. Other examples include:
Download a lunar tracker and schedule your high-intensity work during the Waxing Moon and deep rest during the Waning Moon.
Practice seasonal and local eating and notice how the Earth’s shift changes your mental clarity.
Dedicate one day a week to “non-linear time”—no clocks, no schedules, no “productivity” goals.
Deliberately slow down your pace in corporate or extractive environments to mirror the actual pace of nature.
Refuse to participate in holiday or year-end “pushes” that demand peak energy during the Earth’s natural period of dormancy.
Stop using linear success metrics (followers, dollars, years) to measure your growth; start tracking your life in wisdom, authenticity, and connection.
RESET 04– INSTITUTIONALIZE RECIPROCITY INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE
The glitch runs on one-way extraction—taking until the source is dry. To reset this, we must move from being consumers of the world to being relatives of it. This looks like identifying the one-way flows in your life and turning them into circles.
Instead of buying eggs from a corporate shelf, find the person down the road who keeps the chickens; bring them your compostable scraps and offer your skills in exchange for theirs. Every act of genuine reciprocity—giving and receiving in a closed loop—repairs the broken pattern and builds the immunity of the collective. Other ideas are:
Identify three items you currently buy from the empire and source them from a local person within a 10-mile radius.
Start a compost or food waste loop with a neighbor or local farm/garden, turning your waste into their fertility or meal.
Offer a skill share workshop to your community without any expectation of monetary payment.
Actively move your bank accounts and credit cards away from institutions that fund environmental or social destruction.
Plant native, edible, or medicinal plants in neglected public spaces to reclaim the commons— known as guerilla gardening.
Set up a recurring monthly transfer of resources (money, time, labor) directly to someone in your village, bypassing all institutional “charity” middlemen.
RESET 05– COMMIT TO YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
The glitch thrives on digital isolation, a state where we are “connected” to thousands of strangers via high-frequency light but cannot name the person who sleeps thirty feet away from us behind a drywall partition. Your nervous system is an ancient, social organ; it does not recognize a “like” or a “share” as safety. It only recognizes the co-regulation of physical presence—the smell of a neighbor’s cooking, the sound of a shared laugh, and the sight of a familiar face in the real world.
The village is not a concept or a digital community, it’s a physical requirement for survival. It is the realization that the relationships that will sustain you through the coming extinction burst are the ones you can walk to in the rain.
Here are ways to get to know your community and build a village:
Physically walk your block. Map the 10 houses closest to you. Note who has a garden, who has elderly residents, and who has a dog. This is your primary bio-region.
Initiate a shared tool library or a simple seed-swapping box on your porch. Turn your private property back into a node of the commons.
Host a monthly soup night or tea circle or spaghetti dinner. The only requirement is physical presence and living within walking distance.
Create offline communication channels. Analog phone trees, short-wave radio, or a physical notice board in a local park.
Refuse to post your village gatherings or community mutual aid work on social media. Keep the “sacred” secret from the algorithm. If the empire doesn’t see it, it cannot commodify or co-opt it.
Prioritize the tangible needs and conflicts of your local block over the abstract, curated political dramas broadcast by the empire. If a neighbor is hungry, that is most urgent.
RESET 06– BE AS METICULOUS WITH ENERGY HYGIENE AS PHYSICAL HYGIENE
You are an electromagnetic being (seriously— ask the physicists). In a world of collective dysregulation, your energy field acts as a “trash can” for the empire’s manufactured anxiety if you are not vigilant. The glitch uses digital devices to keep your nadis (energy channels) in a state of permanent “high-alert,” harvesting your cortisol for profit.
The current frequency of our world is pretty fucked up. We are swimming in a soup of discordant signals—not just the literal EMFs from our towers and devices, but the emotional “static” of millions of people locked in a state of survival. Our energetic field was designed to resonate with the low-frequency hum of the Earth and the rhythmic pulse of the seasons, but the glitch has replaced that with a jagged, high-velocity vibration that keeps our spirits in a permanent state of homelessness.
And further than that, because the glitch has stripped us of our natural energetic boundaries, we have become immensely porous. We walk into a room or scroll through a feed and unconsciously “download” the panic, the rage, and the dysregulation of everyone around us. We mistake their frantic frequency for our own intuition.
We are literally carrying the “energetic waste” of a dying empire in our own fields, acting as nodes for a signal that isn’t even ours. Your energy is being siphoned, scattered, and polarized until you can no longer feel the boundaries of your own soul…. and they want to just tell us to manage our stress, like this hasn’t been a systematic shattering of our collective energetic integrity.
In energy healing practices, it is said that imbalance first shows up in the energy body before manifesting fun to the body or mind. Learning to clear your energy is as vital as washing your hands during a plague. Here are ways to start:
Practice “earthing” (barefoot on actual soil) for at least 10 minutes immediately after using digital devices or being in high-EMF environments. Discharge the “static” of the glitch back into the Earth.
Use a salt-water rinse or soak once a week. Salt neutralizes the electromagnetic “film” that builds up on the skin from prolonged screen exposure and the collective outrage of the digital field.
Implement a digital fast at least two hours before sleep. This allows your nervous system to drop out of the beta frequency of the machine and back into the alpha and theta frequencies of the living field.
Treat your attention as a sovereign territory. Install every available ad-blocker and tracker-blocker. Refuse to let the glitch “mine” your focus. Your gaze is the most valuable resource on the planet; stop giving it away for free.
Limit your time in high-surveillance, high-EMF urban centers. Actively seek out “silent zones” where the Earth’s natural frequency (the Schumann Resonance) is louder than the hum of the machine.
If a piece of media—even “activist” media—is designed to trigger a sudden cortisol spike or a “fight-or-flight” response without offering a physical action step, close the tab. Your energy is too valuable to be harvested for clicks.
RESET 07– ACHIEVE CRITICAL COHERENCE TOGETHER
Research on collective systems shows that when as little as 1% of a population becomes stable and aligned with the original code, the entire network is forced to reorganize around that stability.
Your individual practice is the update that crashes the glitch. When you refuse to participate in a gossip cycle, when you choose rest over a hustle that doesn’t serve the village, or when you stay centered while the world panics, you are sending a coherence pulse through the field.
You are creating the invitation for others to remember their own original code. Here are ways to get started:
Follow “The Great Sync” movement— a collective of healers, witches, believers, and ritualists practicing their chosen craft globally at 12UTC daily to reach critical mass together
Commit to a stillness practice (15 minutes daily) dedicated solely to witnessing without judgment.
Practice active co-regulation— staying grounded and breathing deeply while in the presence of someone who is “glitching” or panicked.
Publicly share your reset progress to create a visible permission structure for others to opt-out of the empire.
Refuse to use the jargon, the buzzwords, or the divisive language programmed by the glitch; speak in the language of the field (story, lineage, and life).
Whenever possible, trade, barter, or use cash to keep your energy out of the digital surveillance net.

WE CONTROL THE NEW REALITY: PART 6
The empire is running out of food, but the village is remembering how to feed itself. The actual matrix—the one made of stars, cells, and consciousness—is finally beginning to recognize itself in the mirror.
It is a moment of profound, quiet recognition, like a long-lost language finally being spoken correctly after centuries of silence— we are not escaping anything; we are finally arriving. We are coming home to the original dance of Purusha and Prakriti, where we realize that we have never been separate, never been small, and never been alone.
This recognition ripples through your nervous system, a cooling balm for a 10,000-year-old fever.
The village is not coming to save us and it’s not going to be built by us either— the village is us remembering that we are already home. It is the realization that the ground beneath your feet is not property, but a living relative. It is the feeling of your heart beating in time with the tide, and the knowledge that your breath is part of the same atmosphere that once moved through the lungs of your ancestors.
The cage was always maya— an illusion, a paper-thin projection maintained only by our shared amnesia.
As we wake up, the projection fades, revealing a world that has been waiting for us to return to the dance. It is a world of fierce beauty, deep responsibility, and the unwavering safety of the field. This is the world your ancestors dreamed of; this is the world your children deserve to inherit.

She writes and organizes at the intersection of feminist theory, trauma-informed practice, and the radical act of building community from the ground up. She is the founder of Fieldkeeper Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the return to matrifocal community — and the creator of multiple frameworks like “the male approval economy,” “the patriarchal glitch,” and “the proximity to alpha” audit. Her work is rooted in the belief that women don’t need to be saved; they need resources, each other, and the freedom to remember who they have always been. When she’s not writing, she’s building the village with her daughter by her side.
